Triathlon at Keswick - Fitz Park
Yesterday, 26 children from Fulwood and Cadley travelled
to Keswick with Mr Galloway and Mrs Oates to take part
in either a children's triathlon, some cycle races or both!
These events were part of the Keswick Mountain Festival.
The schools triathlon is one of the first events in the
Festival programme and is a fantastic opportunity to get
school’s involved in the very popular sport of triathon. In
2014 the schools triathlon saw over 600 school pupils participate
and pass the finish line with a smile! The Festival
offers events throughout the weekend for all ages and
abilities. This triathlon was a non-competitive sporting
event offering the chance for children to participate in a
triathlon incorporating three disciplines - swimming, cycling

Good Luck Mr Galloway
On Saturday of next week (30th May) Mr Galloway will be
competing in the Lanzarote Iron Man.
Located on the northern edge of the Canary Islands off
the northwest coast of Africa, this race is considered by
many to be one of the toughest IRON MAN events in the
world. This event is the ultimate triathlon and not many
people have the sporting ability and endurance levels to
compete and complete this event.
This sporting challenge starts with a swim in the sea of
2.4 miles, followed by a cycle race of 112 miles through
the mountains topped off with a full marathon!
The 3.8km swim of the Ironman Lanzarote takes place in
the sea by Puerto del Carmen on the east side of the island
of Lanzarote. The 180.2km bike route follows a
course covering a good proportion of Lanzarote including
the climbs of Mirador de Haria and Mirador del Rio and
includes over 2,500m of climbing! You then head back to
Puerto del Carmen for the 42.2km run along the sea front
towards Playa Honda and back, cheered on by thousands
of local spectators.
I am sure that you will join me in wishing Mr Galloway
every success and good luck (not that he needs luck as he
has trained hard) !! Go…go…go….Mr Galloway

Year 6 SATS
Well done to all our Year 6 children who have completed
their SATs this week. They have worked extremely hard
all year and especially in the build up to this week and
we know that this will pay off when it is results time. We
also would like to wish children in Year 2 all the best as
they continue to sit their KS1 SATs next week.

On Sunday 26th April, I (along with my husband Andrew)
took part in the Virgin London Marathon as part of
‘Team Breathe’ to raise funds for the British Lung Foundation.
Incredibly not only did I complete the marathon
but I have raised over £4500. Never in my wildest
dreams did I think I could
achieve this and I would like to
thank everyone who has played a
part in helping me achieve this
amount. This has been one of
the most amazing experiences of
my life; I loved every moment
and will treasure the memory
